Welcome to my website, "Silverleaf" - exclusively created to keep friends and family updated during my long journey, as well as raising support!
Although most of you may already know, I have taken a year off after finishing third year to work from May until the end of December to attend DTS (Discipleship Training School) in Kona, Hawaii starting from January 2, 2014. DTS is run by YWAM (Youth With A Mission), "an inter-denominational, non-profit Christian, missionary organization. Founded by Loren Cunningham in 1960, YWAM's stated purpose is to 'know God and to make Him known'."
My lectures will be held at UofN (University of the Nations) at Kona:
After outreach finishes at the end of May, I am planning to visit my relatives in Korea and return by August to finish fourth year at UofT. It'll be my first time going back to Korea after my immigration in 1999 - I am very excited and nervous to see my family members outside of Canada for the first time in 15 years ^^

What is DTS?
"The Discipleship Training School (DTS) seeks to bring you into a more intimate relationship with God. It also gives you an opportunity to discover your passions and your part in God’s purposes for the world. It is for those who long to follow Jesus in new ways with a different perspective.
The course is a full-time program and lasts five or six months. It consists of two parts: lecture phase and outreach phase. In the lecture phase, you will learn more about God and His world. You’ll learn not only from lectures but also from community living and practical training. The outreach phase focuses on applying what you learned in the classroom through an intense, cross-cultural experience."
What will I be doing during the lecture phase?:
If anyone has attended GKYM, it will be similar to its schedules and events during weekdays: wake up for QT, attend lectures hosted by speakers and pastors, worship, and pray. Best put, I will be living in a community committed to serving God and receive one-on-one discipleship in order to discover my identity in Him.

What will I be doing during outreach?
- Serve the poor and often overlooked people in the slums of Manila
- Run English camps for children and youth
- Hike the hills of Thailand to remote villages
- Share about Jesus in public and private schools
- Minister to prostitutes who want out (women only, men will minister to the women’s children)
- Provide clean drinking water for those who have no access to it
Why Philippines and Thailand? Because...

It was a big decision to make, but it makes me joyful to be able to obey God's calling to take a long retreat from a passive lifestyle. Please continue to support me in prayer and finance - although I have not met my financial goals, I feel that I have done what I could and trust God to provide the rest. I will do my best to keep updates during the lecture phase, so that others may also be encouraged to reach out to the community and nations for God's Kingdom.
